Information Pack - Making Reasonable Adjustments to Support Individuals with Severe ME in a Hospital or Other Healthcare Setting
People with Severe ME will be admitted to hospital or another care setting (e.g., a nursing home) at certain times. We know from feedback from the ME patient community that they will meet ME unaware medical professionals and other hospital staff who won't be aware of complex issues relating to Severe ME or their individual issues, and the need to adjust their management of the individual with Severe ME to avoid harm or deterioration.
Reasonable Adjustments
We have created a document to support you for those times that you need to educate doctors, and other healthcare practitioners as well as other staff in a hospital setting about the complex issues in Severe ME, and have highlighted the need for reasonable adjustments to be made for those with Severe ME.
About the Information Pack
The information pack document is 35 pages long. Once you have downloaded the pack you will have easier access to the contents section which will help you find topics easily. Please click on the topic line in the contents section and you will be brought straight to the particular topic.

Other Resources
There are many useful resources linked from page 27 of the information pack including two posters for use while in hospital or other care setting, i.e., notices for over the door or bed in your ward.
Personalising the Document
There is a section in the document from page 18 to 21 where you can include your details of your illness and needs. You can edit the information in this section which does not apply to you and include information about you and your needs. You may need to get support doing this from a family member or carer.
